Last Wednesday our new generation of
Creative Careers in Art and Design students came into college for their induction day. Over the summer months, in preparation for induction day, the students were set the task to build and design two three-dimensional letters based on their initials and their interests and hobbies. The students introduced themselves to the rest of the group through the letters they had designed. This activity was followed by a new task, which challenged each group to come up with a sentence incorporating all the letters that individual members of the group had brought with them.

The whole group of over 80 students was split up into three smaller groups. Each group had to come up with their own response using all letters available.
After lunch all students built their own hand-made concertina sketchbook in preparation for projects, which will be launched next week.
As a conclusion to the day Colin Young the Associate Director of Outline awarded prizes to students who had designed the most interesting and ambitious letters.
